2名缅甸籍菜贩被控3年前以60令吉贿赂警员俯首认罪，分别被罚款2500令吉，如果无法缴还罚款，则须以坐牢2个月取代。

被告被控企图以60令吉贿赂一名警员，以作为不对付2人违反1987年陆路交通法令的报酬。

被告因此触犯刑事法典第214条文（献议赠予或归还钱财以换取掩护罪犯）。在此条文下，一旦罪成，可被判坐牢不超过10年，或罚款或两者兼施。

- 一男子被控三项企图贿赂官员罪名成立，于2021年1月6日被判处罚款2万7000令吉或坐牢7个月。
- 男被告被控于2017年4月4日下午2时20在本市一家旅馆企图以2000令吉贿赂电力局官员，诱惑对方减低1男女的电费。
- 控状二和三，则指被告在2017年8月9日下午1时在一间咖啡厅及2019年3月7日下午2时30分在柏迈苏里美食广场，企图向电力局官员支付分别为5000令吉和2万令吉的现金，以便不会针对他进行非法供电而采取行动。
- 被告因此触犯2009年大马反贪会法令第16(a)(b)条文，并在第24(1)条文同读。
- 一旦在上述条文罪成可被判监高达20年、罚款1万令吉，或不少于贿款5倍的罚金，视何者为高。

Penal Code
214.Offering gift or restoration of property in consideration of screening offender
Whoever gives or causes, or offers or agrees to give or cause, any gratification to any person, or to restore or cause the restoration of any property to any person, in consideration of that person’s concealing an offence, or of his screening any person from legal punishment for any offence, or of his not proceeding against any person for the purpose of bringing him to legal punishment, shall, if the offence is punishable with death be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine; and if the offence is punishable with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment which may extend to ten years, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine; and if the offence is punishable with imprisonment not extending to ten years, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one-fourth part of the longest term of imprisonment provided for the offence or with fine or with both.
Exception—The provisions of sections 213 and 214 do not extend to any case in which the offence may lawfully be compounded.

16.Offence of accepting gratification
Any person who by himself, or by or in conjunction with any other person—
(a) corruptly solicits or receives or agrees to receive for himself or for any other person; or
(b) corruptly gives, promises or offers to any person whether for the benefit of that person or of another person, any gratification as an inducement to or a reward for, or otherwise on account of—
(A) any person doing or forbearing to do anything in respect of any matter or transaction, actual or proposed or likely to take place; or
(B) any officer of a public body doing or forbearing to do anything in respect of any matter or transaction, actual or proposed or likely to take place, in which the public body is concerned,
commits an offence.
24.Penalty for offences under sections 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23
(1) Any person who commits an offence under sections 16, 17, 20, 21, 22 and 23 shall on conviction be liable to—
(a) imprisonment for a term not exceeding twenty years; and
(b) a fine of not less than five times the sum or value of the gratification which is the subject matter of the offence, where such gratification is capable of being valued or is of a pecuniary nature, or ten thousand ringgit, whichever is the higher.
